ECONERGY WINS 2009 CONSUMER “BEST” AWARD

Econergy Managing Director David Senn was ecstatic when he learned from Consumer NZ that his HP4000LT heat pump water heater was awarded best product of the year in the home and DIY products category.

“This is a great win for New Zealand” says David, whose product received a consumer recommendation for the best heat pump water heater earlier this year, beating world leading brands manufactured in Australia and Germany.

Four years ago the Econergy heat pump water heater was little more than a dream, when David was still building a prototype system at his friend's workshop in Ardmore on weekends. Weekdays he worked as a consultant saving pennies for launch of his startup company.

“Learning we won best Home and DIY product of the year has been a great boost for our small team” says David. “This is great finish to a year of dynamic growth”.

“The Econergy HP4000LT was the star of our heat-pump water heater test, blitzing its competitors. These water heaters work by using warmth from outside air to heat your hot water. Our test found the Econergy, a locally designed and made product, was at least three times more efficient than a standard electric cylinder.
